Case StoryPOWER UP: Heat Pumps in the industry

The purpose is to investigate the potential for electrification of the industry by means of electro-mechanical high-temperature heat pumps in order to reduce the use of fuels and local CO2 emissions. The technological state of industrial high-temperature heat pumps is de- scribed and the potential for introducing the technology into the industry has been investi- gated through detailed analyses at four Danish process companies. On this basis, the indus- trial potential has been scaled-up. Finally, there is a brief description of possible means of increasing the technology widespread use and the risks associated with investing in the technology.
